In 1993, I entered my career in language acquisition by volunteering as an ESL teacher in the newly freed former Soviet satellite state, Latvia. When I returned to the US in 1994, I began teaching adults ESL in a community college. In 1998, due to my unique combination of skills, I was offered as position as ESL coordinator for this same institution. I have recently graduated from the University of Delaware and intend to pursue a Ph.D. in chemistry within the next few years. My major was in Chemistry with a minor in Biochemistry; I also focused on Theatre, Japanese, French, English, and Biology.
