I have over 180 credits of College education. l have perfored in Jazz Bands,R&B Bands,Gospel Bands and performed in Latin Bands. I use all methods of second language acquisition in my teaching. Most of the exercises I use to help beginning are communicative methods. It's better to get them speaking and writing and build their confidence than to just use rote memorization or drills. If I think the audio-lingual method will help a more advanced student, I suggest and practice this method with them. If reading in the language with the translation side by side helps, we will practice that. I bear all forms of cognitive learning in mind when tutoring a student. I strive to help in whatever way I can.

My teaching style is one that includes both work and fun. I expect my students to practice regularly and advance in learning. However, I also like to incorporate fun into work. My students tell me why they want to learn and get to pick out songs that they want to learn and I will teach the songs to them. If I don't know the song, I take the time to learn it, so that they can enjoy learning. I am a laid back instructor who while I do expect improvement want my students to enjoy music and enjoy making music.
