Tutoring for Life

I'm 24 and mother of a 1 year old (he may be with me while tutoring). I'm laid back and believe there is a natural process that must take place for us to learn and absorb new material. Not just memorize it for a test. However, test preparation is also one of my specialties which does involve more repetition and hands on useage. This could include parent approved trips. I have graduated USCU with a BA in Sociology. I am use to writing long research papers and creative writing styles. Research is a hobby of mine. My teaching style is very hands on. I like to work the problems out with the students and show them how to do each step. I love questions and I love for the student to fully understand. I want the student to fully comprehend what they are doing. If not, they will never be able to do it without me there. Confidence is key and that can be achieved through repetition and a full understanding.
As a college student, I wanted to help other struggling students as well as polish my own skills. I decided that tutoring students would be a great job to earn money and achieve some personal goals. A Little Bit About Me...

I was a peer tutor in high school for English and Spanish. I also tutored children in Hebrew at a local temple. In addition, I volunteered as a tutor for underprivileged children in Chicago in all areas: Spelling, Reading, Writing, Math, Language, etc. for grades K-8.
I love to work with children of all ages and genders. I have worked with children who have learning disabilities, physical disabilities as well as children of all ages, races, and genders.
