I truly enjoy my teaching profession. The moment when a student who has been struggling for understanding starts to put all the information together and applies it is "priceless". My teaching style always includes getting to know and understand the "learning style" of the student or students. If the initial technique does not work then I will keep trying different methods to present the material until the student and I agree that the subject has been mastered. The reason I became a teacher was to transfer my love of music to my students and also to see the joy of their successes. There is nothing like seeing the smile of success on a students face. I care greatly for all students that I have taught and will teach. I first started to study music when I was 11 years old. I grew a love for the clarinet and played for many years in middle school and high school. In college, I majored in clarinet and also studied all wind/percussion instruments as well as piano. I obtained my BA instrumental teaching degree (K-12) through Western Carolina University in June of 2003. I have enjoyed working with children for a number of years. They are fun and truely like to learn. Watching a child actually discover what is being taught is absolutely amazing. All people learn different ways so finding fun, different activities is a great way to teach. Having patience, consistancy, and encouragement are key concepts when working with children.
