As a strong advocate of public education, I believe in supporting our educational system. I have been told my effectiveness as a substitute teacher was the result of my respect for the students and my unshakable calmness and patience. As a non-traditional student I recognize the necessity to create a level of confidence that inspires a student to continue their education with success. I feel that perspectives on learning and my life-experience make me an ideal contact for any student interested in mastering the topics of math, physics, chemistry, or Spanish. I am experienced in the grading and writing of lab reports and other technical forms of communication. I got my first teaching experience as a lab instructor for undergraduate physics labs and fell in love with the profession. The best part of the experience is seeing the student grasp a concept that they felt out of reach. I enjoy coming up with inventive ways of communicating the difficult portions of math and science. Most of my students benefited from my teaching style which includes many examples and encourages a dialogue approach to difficult concepts.

I graduated in 1999 from NMSU with a degree in Elem/Spec Education. While attending school, I worked in a group home for troubled teens and at a facility for adults with disabilities. But my desire to teach children led me to tutoring at a private non-profit school for K-12. I worked there two years before starting to work at a facility for troubled youth. I worked there for one term before they closed down, and then started working with treatment foster care children through Mesilla Valley Hospital, a facility for children and adults with mental disorders. Last year I returned to school to get my Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education. Recently I retired, but am continuing to work on completing my degree.
