A Little Bit About Me...

I have had several years experience of teaching throughout my schooling from college education, personal experience-being the oldest child/grandchild, daily experiences, and now being a parent of a young child. I've always known I would be a teacher. I loved my teachers growing up & I had a natural curiosity to know what it was like to help others. I hold 3 degrees-AA in Elementary Education, BS in Early Childhood Education, and MA-in Education. Even though I do have my degrees, I feel grateful to learn everyday. I feel that daily experiences make us smarter. I know that learning something new everyday makes me proud of myself and others, and very thankful that I have the opportunity to learn new things.

A Little Bit About Me...

Having graduated with a degree in elementary education, I have learned the variety of students' learning styles and know how to target each child's unique style of learning. With a strong background in reading, English, and history throughout high school and college courses, I have been able to use engaging activities and multiple strategies to tutor and teach others. Foreign languages come easy to me as well, and I have particular interest in German and Spanish. When I volunteered at the Boys and Girls Club during college, I spent one-on-one time with students who needed help with their homework and thoroughly enjoyed this experience. I began teaching private guitar, bass, and music theory lessons when I was 16 years old. I have continued to do so until present day. My emphasis for my Masters was Theory/Composition/Arranging. My primary instruments are guitar and bass, although I went to college on a French Horn scholarship. I have played professionally with a wide arrange of ensembles, from a three piece acoustic trio to a ten piece big band. classical music to folk to dixieland to swing to gospel to rock to jazz, I have pretty much played it all at some point.
In my experience as a teacher, i have taught children as young as 4 to retired adults who wanted to play for a hobby.
