I homeschooled a gifted third grader, including administering standardized end-of-grade test, for 1 year. I have tutored homeschooled first and third graders in math, reading, writing, social studies, and art for the last 6 months. I tutored a 8-12-year-old with autism spectrum for 4 years. My comments on tutoring Homework Help : One thing I have learned from my own son, is that a child is much more likely to willingly complete work for their teacher than their parent! One helpful hint I use with my own child is playing soft classical music in the background.

I graduated with my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from UNC-Wilmington. I taught first and second grades for ten years in the classroom. While teaching, I returned to school to receive my Master's Degree in Reading (k-12) and certification as a Reading Specialist. I worked as a Reading Teacher for five years, focusing on grades first through third. I also served as a K-2 Instructional Coach. I have enjoyed guiding children through the stages of reading, beginning with letter recognition and book and print awareness, to successfully completing End of Grade tests. My most recent experience has been helping teach a couple students being homeschooled! What an exciting experience! Unfortunately, the family is moving out of state.
