I love working with children. I believe that all children can learn, but each child learns in a different way. In order to help a student, you must find out how they learn. You also must find their passion. With this information (passion and learning style), you can help any student succeed. Many of my students have been considered as slow, but once I began working with them, I realized that they just lacked the basic skills. I graduated from UNC Chapel Hill last Spring with a BA in Anthropology and a minor in both Creative Writing and Chinese. I graduated with a 3.99gpa and Highest Honors. I was selected to the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society in my Senior Year. That year I also won the top individual creative writing prize from the University Chancellor. I learned through visual aid. So, I guess I would lean towards this style of teaching. However, if a student learns better with audio aid then I would be willing to combine the two methods to better educate the student. My goal is to provide the best education possible and to suceed in that is to have great communication and alittle fun doing the work that is expected.
I have not taught anyone or tutored anyone for money. However, I would like to have the oppitunity to be able to tutor children or young adults on their way of the journey of life. I think that a good educator is the key to success in a child's life. I can still remember my second grade teacher (Ms. Golf), she made learning fun and seemed like everyday was an adventure in her class. Sadly, not all teachers are like that. I do believe that all children learn in different ways. I think that if a child is given a chance and shown some patience, there isn't anything they can't acheive. Children should be guided in learning. They have short attention spans and I think learning should be made fun in order to hold their attention. As a second career I wanted to put something back into my community. So as I went back to school a few years ago to complete my MBA, I thought that I wanted to teach in public schools. I was a non-traditional teacher. I therefore had to work as a substitute teacher and as a tutor because I am not yet certified. So I worked as Coach(Academic K-12)and I enjoy it.
