Reading is one of my top subjects! I am a Texas certified elementary teacher and have taught and worked with children over 20 years.

I believe in assessments to determine a childs strengths and weaknesses. I would want to have previous class work and homework assignments and determine deficiencies in a given area. I want to understand what the teacher is doing from this work. It is helpful to understand why you or your child is not being as successful as possible. Often your child's teacher is trying different strategies with computers or in class tutoring. I will improve this approach with one to one teaching in my office or in a library setting.

Through my teaching style I emphasize hands-on learning by using manipulatives. I also use modeling and repetition. I believe the best way to learn something is to practice doing it yourself over and over again using various methods. Practice makes permanent! A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style conforms to the learning style of the individual. Since no two people learn the same it is impossible to tutor the same way. I feel that once I have found a way to spark their interest and how they learn, it is much easier to help them acheive their goals and grasp the material. Many times the main goal is to teach the student how to learn, as many do not understand that function. Once they understand how they learn it becomes fun and easy.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have dreamed of being a teacher since I was a little girl. I worked towards this goal and received my teaching certificate and then a job teaching 8th grade reading my first year teaching. I have since taught 6-8th English/Reading as well as 8th American History.
