I try to excite my student's interest about a topic before teaching it. It is human nature that we don't want to learn anything that we perceive as useless for the future, so every lesson must be relevant and applicable. When it's not, I will make it into a game, and have an external motivator associated with successful outcome of an exercise. As a current undergraduate chemistry and honors student at Arcadia University, I was recommended to become a tutor from several of my teachers my first year in college. I became a certified CRLA tutor and started tutoring my sophomore year of college; I've been tutoring ever since.
