A Little Bit About Me...

English and elementary skills are my best field. I had a college level english when I was in 8th grade. Math is an okay subject for elementary but I'm not the best at algrebra or higher. My spelling skills and writing skills are excellent. Like I have said before my total english level was a college level when I was in 8th grade. If you need help with your english or science it's a really good idea to come to me with it.
I will work with the children to fit their needs in the subject. My teaching style usually blends in with the child's learning ability.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a single mom raising four children, I received my degree in Elementary Education and have taught one year as a preschool teacher of children birth through five years with disabilities, seven years as a first grade teacher, and 13 years of students 6th through 8th grade. I enjoy working with all levels of students and my greatest desire is that each child is capable of excelling in all areas of their education. My greatest strength is teaching reading and writing to struggling students. A child's ability to read at or above grade level is fundamental in the child's ability to excel within other classes.

First and foremost, I understand that no two children learn the same. I believe many children struggle in a learning environment simply because they are not comfortable with it. I excel at personal communication, and make it my first goal to find out how the student is going to learn the best. Whether it requires dancing, music, pictures, whatever it takes, once a student is comfortable they are far more likely to absorb information. This holds true for any age. I want the student to understand that they are capable of learning anything, they just may not have had the right opportunity to yet. That said, I like to make exercises fun, but I know when and when not to be stern. I received my BS degree in 2007 in pre-medicine. I majored in pre-professional zoology and I have a minor in biochemistry.
