I believe that all children learn differently and at different levels and as a teacher, you need to recongize that and adapt your lessons to your students so they can achieve. For social studies, most student think that class is all about taking notes and reading from the book but I put a twist on all of my lessons. I do a lot of group projects, I have the students do presentations for each other on the material and also reanacts of big events to help the students understand what really happened with that specific event and how it impacted history.

A Little Bit About Me...

This particular position interests me because I struggled with math through middle school and understand the frustration it can create for a student. Mathematics is now my strongest subject and I chose the profession of accounting to utilize those strengths. During my time at college, I helped other students with their studies in math and business, specifically statistics and quantitative analysis. I am a current student with Duquesne University working on a dual masters degree in Corporate Communications and Multimedia Technology. I am a 2007 graduate of Capital University and hold a bachelors degree in Mathematics with a minor in communications. I completed 3 years of coursework in Chemical Engineering before deciding to switch to Mathematics and am therefore well versed in both the maths and sciences. I tutored at the college level while a student and volunteered as a middle school and high school mathematics tutor with North Hills Youth Ministry for aproximately 2 years.

There are many ways to learn and it is up to the teacher to help the student find which ways they learn best.
