I spend much of time making the student understand that it is okay to feel behind in a subject and that the student should believe in himself. This belief is built on continued practice on fundamentals that I watch them go through but only ask questions when I see them going astray. Everyone needs to learn the material for his or herself. My place is to make sure they learn the right methods to solve the problem and ensure that they know those methods beyond the tutoring session.
I have been tutoring professional for six years and teaching for five. I am certified by the state of Tennessee to teach secondary math. Growing up, I was always very gited academically. I never struggled with school, and learning was an easy pleasure. I graduated as valedictorian, and when I got to college I started tutoring to help others that had more difficulty in class. I didn't begin tutoring as a job until about two years ago, and since then have tutored in subjects including reading, math, and chemistry.
