My teaching style varies upon subject and student. I graduated from Jefferson High School in the spring of 2012. I now attend Indiana University-Purdue University in Fort Wayne. I have two younger siblings and 4 younger step-siblings that I have helped with their homework, or helped them better understand material assigned to them. Their ages range from 8-17. I know how to explain certain subjects in multiple ways to ensure that eventually the student will understand the material. I am very patient, and I understand that some people learn at slower rates than others. I am majoring in nursing, though I considered teaching English before making this decision. I love teaching, and am looking to make some extra money for things I need while in college.

As a child I loved to read and write. In High School I took the AP exams for both English Language and English Composition, scoring a 4 and a 5. It was a natural choice for me to major in English when I started my college career. While working on my degree I already knew I wanted to teach, so I began tutoring. I tutored two Korean families over two years, helping the children (ages 9, 12, 14, & 15), with their school subjects, and with their English grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, comprehension, and writing skills. My pre-medical school coursework allowed me to gain conceptual and hands-on understanding in the areas of inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, physics, and biology. In addition to my scientific training, I enrolled in the Honors program with a concentration on Western Civilization. I have been teaching English Composition at the college (freshman) level for the past three years. Thus, I feel I would be especially helpful as a tutor for high school students who are interested in both understanding what will be expected of them in college English/writing courses and ensuring that their own writing skills meet those standards. To the extent that I can, I tailor my teaching to the individual needs of the student.
