I substitute taught around the South Hills of Pittsburgh for a year, then moved to Virginia, where I taught fifth grade for four years. The first three years were in a public school and the fourth in a private school. I taught all subject areas and skill level abilities.
I would describe my teaching style as hands on and according to multiple learning styles. I understand that students learn best when they have the option of working with material objects. As a recent graduate from Westminster College, I have earned a BA in History and my PA teaching certificate for 7-12 in Social Studies. I have had experience in teaching grades 9-12 and tutoring students in grade 10 in subjects other than social studies such as science, math, and spanish. I began my study of American Sign Language (ASL) at the tender age of 12, then studied Latin in high school with Mrs. Ellen Conrad. When I reached college, I continued my study of ASL while tutoring friends in Latin. I have helped tutor friends’ kids on math from little school to high school. I have taken math all the way up to Differential equations and feel alright tutoring up to calculus one. I do not possess documented experience from schools or other organizations. I am a very highly motivated individual that does not mind helping others.
