A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy working with students and co-workers on all levels, whether they have little or no experience. I know when to recognize different styles in learning and methods I can use to accomodate each different style. I am also very patient and willing to put extra effort in with students that might have trouble learning the material presented.
I have previously worked as a shift supervisor at Starbucks, which has given me experience training, coaching, and delegating duties to other employees. I'm a student at Augustana College whose academic record has ranged from public school to home schooling to community college and and even private education. I've worked as a tutor for over 2 years at Black Hawk College, at the same time obtaining an Associates Degree. Throughout those years I've encountered many special needs students and many bright students, tutoring in subjects ranging from English, Math, Social Studies, to Computer Science.
I believe the best way to learn is peer-to-peer learning. As an auto-didact I have the study skills necessary to regurgitate information as taught by the current institutional models. This is an uncreative and highly unnatural way to learn. There's a reason no major discovery was made in a classroom -- true innovation, discovery and learning is an organic process.
