A Little Bit About Me...

Learning must be fun, especially in a tutoring context. In my previous tutoring experiences, I always attempted to turn tasks into games or opportunities for creative expression. For example, multiplication tables can become an opportunity to play a relay game. Learning different parts of speech can be made enjoyable by creating an imaginative story. My particular interest is helping children develop a passion for creative writing and reading. These were essential elements of my own childhood and my development as a writer, and I'm excited to share this experience with others.
After graduating with honors from Grove City College, I took a position as a writer for a large nonprofit organization in Washington, DC. While working as a professional writer, I dedicated my free time to tutoring at a center for urban kids.

I am a patient, friendly, and thoughtful person, and I feel that those characteristics are essential when educating children. These are the qualities that produce a comfortable learning environment, and if a child is not comfortable, they will not be able to reach their academic potential. I look forward to enriching your child’s love of learning.
