I love working one-on-one with students. I can see individual needs of students and work with them on overcoming them. I generally pick specific things someone needs to work on and prepare my lesson working only on that until there is sufficient progress to move on. When I teach I like to give examples of what we are working on and then allow some practice time to assess whether or not students understand the material. One of my teaching tools is making exercises that a student can take 15-20 minutes to complete outside of class and use it at the beginning of our next session as a quick review/Q&A opportunity. After graduating from Utah State, I taught 2nd grade for a year at a charter school. It was a good experience, but I wanted the chance to work with students in a variety of settings. During the past school year, I was hired as the Spanish Specialist at another charter school which has been another great experience.
