I began teaching and coaching swimming in 1980. In 1984, I extended my teaching experience by volunteering for the Eagle Mount program as a downhill ski instructor for students with several disabilities. At this time I decided to pursue a degree in education, which I completed in 1985. I was hired by the Crane District in Yuma, Arizona in January of 1986 and transferred to the Yuma Union High School District in the Fall. I have taught science and coached swimming since that time. I am Certified in the State of Arizona to teach biology, chemistry and earth science. Through out my career I have taught 14 different science and technology courses. Learners need to obtain information from a variety of stimuli to fully understand a concept. What is successful for one student may not work for an other.
