I have always had an interest in math, science, and social studies along with a desire to help people. Therefore I decided to pursue a degree in Elementary Education. I have 5 years of experience working within a classroom as a Para-educator. My last internship was within a middle school social studies classroom, I had classroom sizes of 31 students. My first fulltime teaching experience was within a middle school math and social studies classroom, I had classroom sizes of 18 students. I enjoy teaching and helping youth learn. My philosophy is that all children can learn if provided the opportunity and resources that fit their learning style. I believe in positive reinforcement and praise. Children learn in many different ways, and it is an educators role to provide opportunities for children to learn through various methods. I am a positive and outgoing person and believe this is evident in my teaching and presentation style.
I have worked for the past 14 years in the behavioral health care field. I have served as a mentor to a youth with behavioral/emotional issues. I hold a BA of Education with a minor in Elementary Education and a minor in Special Education. I also hold an MSEd in Education- Counseling. I hold a current Nebraska teaching certificate and have worked with youth of all ages.

A Little Bit About Me...

I would say my teaching style is very thorough and repetitive. Repetition is what truly sticks information into student’s minds, despite its annoying tendencies. My middle school class would frequently complain that we had already covered something; but their test scores showed that it paid off in the long run! I am a kinesthetic learner and understand how everyone has different learning styles so I incorporate all styles when teaching a lesson. I include reading, verbal, visual and hands on learning when possible. When learning or teaching math I feel the more problems you can do the better.
After receiving my college education I taught my own visual art curriculum in Western Illinois for two years. Here I worked with Elementary students and High School Students.
