Excellent, Engish-1st-Language Math, Science & Music teacher

I am a laid-back, personable and practical instructor with a knack for simplifying math terminology down to everyday language, skilled at translating what appears to be a complicated concept into it's most basic, understandable form. I attempt to explain why something works the way it does because a student having that understanding will help him or her retain and be able to use the concept. I believe that one-on-one math instruction is the ideal approach to teaching / learning math because a tutor can watch exactly what a student is doing and make corrections that the student might not even realize he/she is making. I have worked in Accounting and Finance management roles in large corporations for over 20 years. I have supervised, directly or indirectly, groups as large as 90 individuals. I also have managed smaller teams where I have had responsibility for one to four individuals. It became apparent to me early in my career that often my workers were not equipped with the appropriate knowledge skills to perform the work required by their position.
