I take pride in discerning each student's learning style and then teaching them in the most effective manner. I am a firm believer that all people are teachable, and that no real method is ultimately the best, but that the approach should be tailored to what the student is good at.
I have three degrees, Masters in Biochemistry, B.A. in Biology, and an Associates Degree in Business Administration. Currently, I am involved in marketing for a law firm, and am responsible for writing Excel programs for customer tracking, website SEO, and generally raising the profile of the business, and analysis. My approach to tutoring is to first make the student feel comfortable and to realize that they are not "stupid" or inferior because they need help. Then I find out specifically where they are having difficulties and concentrate on that area. If they still are having difficulties in that area, I will move on to the next topic so that they don't get frustrated. Once they have obtained some level of confidence, I will revisit the area where they were having difficulties. I believe in positive feedback, so I will motivate my students through encouraging words and praise, without being patronizing.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a current undergraduate chemistry and honors student at Arcadia University, I was recommended to become a tutor from several of my teachers my first year in college. I became a certified CRLA tutor and started tutoring my sophomore year of college; I've been tutoring ever since. I tutor chemistry, biology, math (beginner algebra, statistics, calculus I and II), and calculus based physics.
I love working with students and teaching them something new. The best feeling is when someone understands a concept that they didn't before; when something "clicks" for a student, I feel as if my job as a tutor was done.
