Have taught at the high school level for the past 10 years. I have served as a tutor at the high school and college levels for the past four years. I have my Master's in Education and have a degree in Mathematics as well. I have taught levels of math ranging from 8th grade math, all the way up to college level calculus and statistics. I love the application of math and finding the "why" in what is that most people struggle with math.
I like to take concepts and apply them to topics and fields that you are interested in. Math can be applied so many different ways, and when that connection is made at a personal level, it makes it that much more relevant.

A Little Bit About Me...

I was valedictorian of my high school class. I was also good in sports and music. I went to college at Iowa State University and finished at the University of South Dakota with a major in communication disorders and a minor in psychology. I have a strong training background. I have held jobs in which I was a manager, which required me to train staff. I also taught computer classes (Microsoft, Internet, Basic PC) at Western Iowa Tech for a few years. I earned A's throughout my high school career; and I excelled in college in math, science and English, though I would no longer be comfortable teaching high-level science.

I have always loved school and learning and try to learn new things every day. After I graduated from high school I regretted the fact that I hadn't done better in math. I promised myself that someday I would go back to school and learn these skills; I accomplished this in 2005. I was very active in my children's classrooms as a parent volunteer/tutor(1:1 and group tutor- all subjects)- huge success. Students, I think, benefit from a understanding a variety of angles when approaching a problem, and typically, one of them will stick.
