I have the ability to “adjust quickly to change” and love to multi-task. From living in Mexico D.F. at the age of sixteen, attending graduate school in London and now living in Hawaii, I have gained experience in multi-cultural environments and thrive in challenging settings.

I feel that in teaching my goal is to effectively reach all children. Individual care and attention are the most effective ways which I feel a child can be persuaded to learn. I take pride in being patient and think that every child has brilliance to show, they just show their skills at different and varying degrees.
In 2003 I traveled to India where I began work in a village in the South teaching English and Sociology to 4-11th graders. The experience was incredibly rewarding and was a wonderful vision into the complexities of education and culture. Due to this multi cultural experience I feel that I have a great skill in reaching students with multi ethnic backgrounds, and understand the discrepencies between written and spoken language.

I believe in empowering children. A child needs to know that someone believes in them. If given the opportunity to excel, along with the support they need to succeed they will settle for nothing less than excellence. My career in education began while attending CSUN. I started as a paraprofessional at a charter school, and also was able to teach my own elective classes. I graduated with a BA in Deaf Studies, with a concentration in Language and Culture. After moving to northern California, I worked at a college as an ASL interpreter. I went on to teach ASL at a private High School in San Francisco for 3 years. I am currently teaching Deaf students at the high school level.
