I am a graduate student. I have a Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science. I plan to apply to medical school the next application cycle. I have five younger siblings who were home schooled. I have tutored students from the age of 5 to 65, from elementary through college. My masters degree will be in education.

I have the take a learning styles test in our very first meeting to see what style of learner the are. I then concentrate on teaching them by what learning style they are. I have tutored K-12 students, as well as college students. I tutor math for K-12 students and business courses and math for college students. I have a 100% success rate for the students I have tutored in my eight years of tutoring since 2004. I am a caring individual and I do what ever it takes to make sure that my students get the concept they are learning, I will not move forward till they do.

I use a variety of teaching styles, until I find out a style that appeals to the student I am working with. Some students are visual, while others are kinesthetic like myself. I have worked at Pulaski Technical College for 3 years tutoring several math and Science Courses. I love tutoring and enjoy assisting others in the pursuit of knowledge. I worked as a teachers assistant at Pulaski technical college for the head of the Biology department. I held a class that was not required but encouraged by the school to help the students in the biology course prepare for test and answer questions regarding labs. This class took place after the regular scheduled class and lab each week. I graduated with a 4.0 GPA at Pulaski Technical College and will graduate from University of Arkansas at Little Rock in December of 2014.

I started teaching Music in 1984. I taught part-time, temporary while pursuing education goals and working as a professional musician. In 1998 I became an adult educator, and in the following nine years I taught GED, Workforce, Computer and ESL. I learned to speak Spanish from some of my ESL students. Today I run a new program called Bachillerato de las Americas en Arkansas, comprised of curricula obtained from Kingston, Jamaica and Heredia, Costa Rica. I enjoy teaching all age levels. I consider myself a facilitator, not an authoritarian. I ascribe to the principles set forth by Malcolm Knowels and Benjamin Bloom. I rely on the strength and motivation of the student. I hesitate to call myself "teacher." I prefer facilitation and discussion teaching styles. These particular styles, to me, help create an environment where the learner is more actively involved. I believe that the more active the learner is, the greater the the impact of learning will become. I deem these teaching styles most effective in the approach to learning. I have been in some aspect of education for over 21 years. My experience includes tutoring math and science for Talent Search in 1990, teaching biology, chemistry, physics, physical science, applied math 2, principles of technology I & II, algebra I workshop, general science, life science, earth science and environmental science to grades 7-12 the past 18 years, physical science on a college level, and currently tutor 8-12 grades in science and teach intro to chemistry and environmental science on a college level.
