My comments on tutoring Shakespeare : Enjoyed and am well-versed in Shakespeare's later works. Have extensively researched alternative methods of teaching Shakespeare in order to make his works more relevant and engaging for today's students.

Student centered and humanistic, I seek to find the student's ways of knowing and help them to build from their own starting point. I heavily endorse active reading and listening and value discussion and project-based learning. My ultimate goal is to help students to realize that they are often capable of much more than they give themselves credit.
Over the last 7 years I have been either working with youth or working to make myself a stronger reader, writer, and teacher. My experience includes two years of work as a nanny, during which I was responsible for scheduling activities, providing sound moral guidance, and tutoring my charge in all of her school subjects. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is to make learning fun. I like to bring materials to the lesson that match a student's interest and still build necessary skills. My middle school students became experts at poetry and grammar with daily competitions. Practice is imperative to learning, is my theory, and the key to the success I've had with students.
After receiving my BS I taught high school English for nine years in Vermont and Massachusetts. I earned my MED in 1985 and served as an administrator at both the high school and elementary school levels. I've taught emotionally disturbed children and middle school ESL students in Santa Fe. Most recently I have been tutoring elementary students in language arts and math. For the past five years I've also tutored language arts and math to 1st grade through middle school students after school.

A Little Bit About Me...

During my time as a substitute teacher I encountered students with different types of learning abilities. This makes it challenging to teach concepts to the students since each student learns differently. While earning my probationary teacher’s license in Teachers for the 21st Century I learned the most effective way to teach concepts to students with different learning abilities is through the use of the Bloom method. This method will enable students to comprehend, retain, and apply the knowledge that is given to them which will help develop the students cognitive skills.
I have earned a bachelor’s and a master’s in English from New Mexico State University, which enabled me to increase my knowledge of grammar and rhetoric.
