Since graduating from my undergraduate program in 2007, I have had a passion for teaching and learning. My first teaching experience was working in Camden, New Jersey. I served as an intern art teacher for at-risk first through third graders in an after school/summer school program. Shortly thereafter I started my Master's program, where I integrated my passion for teaching into my capstone project. I was given the opportunity to teach at-risk fifth through eighth graders basic life and business skills, which included everything from how to calculate simple interest to how to apply for college. I earned a bachelors degree in English Literature and a minor in Education. During these undergraduate years, I helped student teach regular English courses ranging from reading comprehension, essay writing, and literary analysis in various schools and grade levels. My grammatical skills are beyond proficient due to rigorous essay writing, research and literary, and also my extensive practice in writing poetry.
