Just recently, I worked with students in New Berlin, WI as part of the Junior Achivement program. While in High School and College, I worked with students in Madison at Whitehorse Middle School on Video Editing, PC Repair, Postmodernism, and Music. I have extensive skills in writing, grammar, spelling, public speaking, and knowledge in and of government--state and national/federal, specifically the Presidency.
I love teaching children and being able to see them learn. It is awesome to see and hear when they finally "get it" or when they understand something that I taught them. Moreover, when a student gives you an answer to a question and uses an example of something that you taught them earlier, it really shows you how quickly they can pick things up. My teaching "style" is very open--I will have an outline and while I am presenting I will sometimes ask for examples from the stude ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I have a passion and love of teaching Elementary aged students. I believe that all children should have their learning style addressed in my teaching. Differentiation of instruction is essential to reaching these students, and I strive for this ideal each time I am teaching students. I am very down to earth, and will gladly help a student on a more one-to-one basis in the classroom. I try and create a classroom of support, an idea that all students can contribute and feel comfortable with participating. Teachers are the keys to opening the doors of knowledge for students, and I strive to make sure that I am turning the key for every student.
As a recent 2008 Elementary Education graduate from Winona State University, I possess up to date tools to effectively teach students of varying learning levels. I have earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Teaching, and hold a teaching licen ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

My background in teaching kindergarten and first grade include hands-on activities to keep their natural curiosity alive and develop new curiosity. The number one thing that I love about teaching is seeing the progression of abilities in my students. Especially at such a young age, it is amazing to see my students use their higher level thinking. Knowing that my students’ confidence levels grow with every accomplishment in their abilities gives me great joy as a teacher. I have worked with students who have a range of abilities, so I feel I have been lucky to see the different levels of students. This has allowed me to develop lessons and activities that can challenge the gifted students and still meet the needs of all students.
I am a graduate student from Northern Illinois University where I have earned a BS in elementary education, which enabled me to gain an understanding of te ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

In 2005 I obtained a degree in Sociology with a minor in Spanish and in 2009 obtained a masters degree in Applied Behavior Analysis. I have worked with children of normal intelligence and what cognitive disabilities. Although my degrees are not directly related to math, I use mathmatical concepts daily. I bring to the table the ability to use math terms in a day to day experience, rather than just in a classroom setting.
I believe that all children can learn, and when a child has difficulty grasping a concept, the teacher must change their technique. I have used a variety of methods when working with children. Manipulatives, flash cards ,games and stimulus equivalence training are just a few. I also believe that a child that needs extra help with a subject should not feel like they are being punished. A teaching session should not just help a person learn a concept, but help ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

Since graduating from Northern Illinois University, I have had several experiences teaching children at the elementary and middle school age. I was a nanny for a family of three for a year right after graduating. It was a wonderful experience and gave me the opportunity to create my own lessons and activities for the children. The following year I was a substitute teacher in Wisconsin for various grade levels and loved each experience. I am looking forward to beginning to substitute teach again this December in the DeKalb area.
I have wanted to be a teacher all my life. I love working with children and teaching. I believe that children are the future and should be given the opportunity to do well and succeed in school.
