Algebra I is one of my top subjects! I have specific teaching experience with Algebra I. I believe Algebra I is the foundational course for all other mathematics. It is even used in Geometry. Because I was certified to teach Algebra I in the state of Virginia, I could have probably called myself an expert. Others (students and teachers)have said that I make math easy to understand. Still, I believe there is always more to learn, so I will just call myself "experienced," instead. There are many people who know math, and are incredibly smart, but have no (or very limited) ability to help others learn what they know. I'm not one of those. My strength is facilitating the learning of others. I am flexible and can come at topics different ways, because I only teach what I thoroughly understand.

I prefer to be a facilitator. I believe in the "give a man a fish and you feed him for one day, teach the man how to fish and you feed for a lifetime." I can give you what you need to know; but I prefer to help you learn how to solve problems yourself. By giving you the tools to use what you know to solve problems,you can have the ability to figure out solutions to problems that haven't been seen before.
I have real-world experience in the United States Army--both enlisted and officer. I have real-world experience in corporate America. I completed roughly 300 college credits, so I know how to succeed in school. I taught math for a year-and-a-half in public schools. Algebra I is one of my top subjects! I have completed Algebra I in high school and college. I received an extremely good grade in this class at both levels. I am very confident in my abilities to tutor this subject.

What I try to do first is get the student to work out the problem, and as they are doing that I will work the problem as well. We will go over our answers together so I have a chance to explain the problem to the student. I believe that repitition and practice makes perfect as long as you have someone to explain it along the way. I will thoroughly explain the problem to the student if they don't understand it. By the end I would hope that the student could then explain how to do the problem to me.

I have over five years tutoring asvab students. I can help you with asvab math formulas and difficult problems. The best way to improve your score is to get a tutor, take a lot of tests and give yourself enough time to study and learn different techniques. I can help you developed your best learning style so you can do well in the asvab. Thank you.
The ASVAB AR is made up of only about 15 major types of problems. 90% require you to know the formula to solve the problem. For example a PERCENTAGE PROBLEM Is usually solved using this formula: % / 100 = Part / Whole. You can plug- in the values and solve for the missing "x". I can give you ALL of the formulas you will need on the Arithmetic Knowledge Section. We also review techniques for excelling on the PC, MK and WK sections of the ASVAB.

Elementary, Middle, High School and College Tutor

I usually start with a diagnostic test to concentrate on weaker areas then come up with a weekly plan focusing on those areas. After a lesson, I usually give worksheets and sometimes online exercises, depending on the subject, and use videos and games if applicable.
I have tutored and mentored students for more than five years in Algebra I & II, Trigonometry, Physics, Chemistry, English and ESL. I have a degree in Psychology and a certificate in TEFL. I believe tutoring is a really helpful and useful addition to class and studying by oneself because it is reviewing class material once again and it is a way for students to be accountable to yet another person who knows the answers to their questions and can help them work to that answer as well.
