Patient and Friendly Tutor!

I try to engage my students in every way possible. Reading and reciting are great for vocabulary memorization, but I try very hard to bring the subject matter to life in a meaningful way to the student. Pictures, music, relevant historical information- anything to help facilitate learning.

A Little Bit About Me...

I prefer to use a hands on approach to education. I like to have the kids get engrossed in the subject matter by reading aloud and taking part in discussion sessions. It is my belief that all children have the capacity to succeed in school with the proper tools. The tools that I provide are first and foremost, respecting the students without any bias. As a teacher in middle school, teaching art was fun and exciting. Until I began to subsititute, did I feel that I could teach and wanted to help children learn. I taught for two years with being a subsitute for nearly four years. I am working on my masters in elementary education.

As a classroom teacher often facing as many as 37 students at one time, it was difficult to provide the appropriate learning environment for many of these children's needs. Through small group tutoring, however, the right learning environment can be created if the tutor fosters a positive relationship with the student.
