Highly educated Math and Physics Tutor

Took Calculus 1 & 2 in High School with a grade of 100, and all Math and Physics classes in College were the highest grades in the class. I tutored math while in college to strugling math students and helped them get extra instruction which is usually all that is needed to succeed in Math. A Little Bit About Me...

As a recent fall 2009 graduate, it is my goal to become an educator and help other students learn the concepts behind mathematics. I want students to understand that math is not a scary subject and that you can enjoy this field area. In the past, I have tutored/volunteered in the following areas of mathematics: Basic math. I have 17 years in the classroom and 5 years of education to attain this. I still make myself available to help any student who needs it even though I have left the classroom. I have also substituted for 3 years at all grade levels. I have had to write many papers during my educational experience. My students had to write essays as part of their testing and do extensive research to write papers to enhance their experience in the classroom.
All students learn at different levels. I like to incorporate all the learning styles of students. Some learn by hands-on, others by listening, and some by writing. These are all used by me. My own two children (boys, now grown) will tell you that despite my military bearing, I am patient and understanding with kids. I have earned two masters, one in Exceptional Student Education (ESE) and the other in Educational Leadership. I hold a Florida certification for ESE with English Speakers of other Languages (ESOL) endorsement. In addition to college courses I have completed College Board’s Springboard training and have successfully used it to help students increase test scores. I have taught all subject areas in middle school ESE settings for six years in a variety of classroom models.
