I began tutoring as an undergrad student working for the college's academic support office tutoring math and science courses. After graduating cum laude with a BA in Mathematics, BS in Meteorology, Physics minor, and Secondary Education certification, I went straight into teaching. For the next 8 years I was a jr high and high school math and science teacher. I taught Physics, earth Science, Physical Science, General Science, and math classes ranging from 7th grade basic math up through trigonometry. Last year I returned to school to earn a masters degree in Applied Statistics from Cornell University. My approach is to determine the student's weaknesses, and then formulate analogies to explain the difficult concepts. I study the student's learning style in order to infuse the new material as easily as possible. Additionally, I introduce new ways to understand the material, and then observe the student's reaction.
