I believe in presenting each child with a verbal and visual explanation of each objective. I then believe that each child needs the chance to complete a task with encouragement and success before independent work. Assessment should only be taken AFTER a child has experienced numerous chances for understanding, practice, and mastery. Flexibility is another thing that many students are not allowed in class, and I believe is very important to success. This is permitted in my classes on an as-needed basis. This helps the student to feel comfortable so they can ask questions, even those they may feel to be stupid. A Little Bit About Me...

As a parent concerned about the condition of the public school system we decided to homeschool our last two children. I began teaching them in the first grade and have continued up to, and including, the present time. My son is now a high school freshman and my daughter is in the eighth grade. During this time I helped start a homeschool cooperative. We wanted to continue homeschooling our children, but we also wanted to provide them with more choices taught by someone experienced, or having an expertise in an area.
