My comments on tutoring Testing Skills : Virtual testing with Wyzant Tutoring, 2009-2010; passed in the Sciences, English, American Hx, Basic Math & Algebra, Writing & Reading.

My method of tutoring is to work with students where they are and add to their skills, to accomplish the final outcome, preferably an "A" or "B." Some students are visual learners and some are informational learners, or some students combine the two. The potential I see in students is what I try to bring out and have them realize they are capable of going a step further, to reach their goal. The importance of education and the students' continuance of same cannot be stressed enough.

Critical thinking skills and untraditional ways are what I focus on. However the way someone learns, I will try to set the individual up to show how they learn and work with them. I find that the most important aspect of teaching is to consider the student's perspective. It wasn't that long ago that I was a student myself, and I found the most effective teachers were the ones who were able to explain concepts in a variety of ways. Along with this I find it import for a teacher to fully understand a question being asked by a student. I have had teachers give me incorrect answers to questions because their was a communication disconnect. Exercising patience and understanding cannot be over emphasized. Understanding the fact that children learn differently is crucial. The teacher must be able to adapt to the child's learning style.
