As a teacher you are dealing with various levels of learning as well different personalities. I believe you have to be open to what works for the individual and the classroom. Many young students do not understand why they must learn and why it is important. We as educators must show students how education applies to all life, especially theirs. I am an English Graduate from SUNY New Paltz and have a broad range of interests. My time as an English student has taught me to use more critical research and analytical skills. I am hoping my degree will enable me to help others to improve their passion for writing and reading, not just teach them how to approach/explicate or write about a work, but to really find enjoyment in it and relate it to their own life in some way.
