I have both a Bachelors and Masters degree in Accounting. After receiving my masters in 2005, I went on to work in public accounting for 5 years where I gained experience as an auditor working for a Big 4 CPA firm. Part of my job responsibilities were to develop and coach new staff while on the job. This requires teaching them how to apply their accounting knowledge learned school as well as teaching them accounting principals that were both new or forgotten. I believe in creating a positive atmosphere where students feel comfortable asking questions and engaging in discussions. When I teach or tutor in writing, I make it my goal to give students a solid structure for composing assignments that they can use to write any paper. When I teach reading, I make it my goal to find something in the text to engage the students, since if they are not interested, they will not read or comprehend. I graduated from the University of Tennessee with a BA in English Literature. Through my coursework at UT I polished both my analytical and writing skills, while concurrently gaining comprehensive knowledge of the canonical literature that is taught in school today and the methodology of teaching it.
