I love learning math and science and I enjoy sharing the same love of learning with my students. I like seeing the look on their face when they really get it! Students requiring tutoring are sometimes in academic distress and have anxiety therefore I have a more easy going and patient style of tutoring than most. I believe I'm an effective tutor because I remember the exact same difficulties and questions I had as a student and can relate to their frustration. Most people as well as myself are visual learners thus I teach by working several examples and gradually increasing the difficulty at a pace set by the student. Many teachers will say the same thing, that they love teaching and it is only outside factors that will disrupt a class and make it difficult for some students to learn. I delight in helping students to acquire new knowledge and there is satisfaction in having students thank the teacher after a class. I like to work with small groups and encourage these groups to explore and teach each other from my leading. Having a degree in Philosophy & Religion has many advantages in teaching. I have found to better understand a subject it is best to go and study many different resources for that subject, a macro-view. However the complicated subject is, a person who knows that subject will be able to present it in a simple concise manner. With this approach I am able to study and present a variety of subjects in a concise but exciting manner. The full grasps of studying P&R encompasses many sub fields of study : i.e. history, psychology, sociology, pretty much all the liberal arts.
My teaching style would best be described as conversational at best, drawing out of the student, their knowledge or lack of knowledge. I have taught my two honors student sons that I add to their body of knowledge and they are to coalesce the information to their understanding.

I not only believe that all students can learn, but that all students learn in various methods. My preferred teaching method is a combination of Constructivism (hands-on, inquiry-based learning) and Behaviorism (rewards and consequences); however, I strive to internally motivate my students, and I find that making work relevant and meaningful has the greatest effect on learning. As a Math Educator, I have achieved a BA and M.Ed in Math Curriculum. This two titles let me to work in 6 different school in wich I had devoloped a high standar curriculum in each area of the Math field. My last experince in the classroom was with a drop out students program in wich I helped giving that second opportunity to students that in some cases no one believe in; to graduate fron high school. I have 13 years of expirience in teaching, tutoring and mentoring in Math, Sciencies and Spanish.
