Pre-Algebra is one of my top subjects! A favorite subject.

My method of tutoring is to work with students where they are and add to their skills, to accomplish the final outcome, preferably an "A" or "B." Some students are visual learners and some are informational learners, or some students combine the two. The potential I see in students is what I try to bring out and have them realize they are capable of going a step further, to reach their goal. Recently Retired Female Engineer

I would classify my tutoring style as "old school." Ladies and gentlemen, the best way to learn a problem-based subject such as math or chemistry is to solve problems; there are no short cuts.
I am a recently retired engineer. I spent last summer working in a City of Detroit grade school as a tutor. About ten years ago I taught Environmental Science classes at Wayne State as an adjunct faculty. This is the only official experience I have had teaching/tutoring; however during my academic career I frequently explained course material to fellow students and to study partners. During the 30 years I worked as a Chemist and as an Engineer I was frequently asked to explain technical information to a lay audience since I seemed to have a knack for doing just that.
