A Little Bit About Me...

As an undergraduate, I spent nearly three years assisting groups of students with how to learn content for the historically difficult courses of College Chemistry I and II. I have my BS in Nuclear Medicine Technology, which permitted me to learn and acquire a great understanding in multiple areas. These areas include biology, anatomy, physiology, chemistry, algebra, statistics, and beginning and intermediate levels of Spanish . I love to teach and see the ideas light up the eyes of the person who suddenly got a concept. I think teaching should be adaptable and should fit the learning style of the student. Visual tasks, memory games, and hands-on-learning are, in my opinion, the best way to help someone truly learn (versus rote memory). A Little Bit About Me...

Since April 2007, I have been a substitute teacher at both the Watkins Glen High School and Middle School. Frequent subjects include English, Psychology, and Physical Education. I belong to a writers group which meets at the local library every first and third monday. I belong to a chess club that meets at a coffee shop every Thursday. I also assistant coach varsity and college soccer during the spring and fall seasons.
I believe that education should present as much material to the student as possible, which includes using various textbooks, lecture, and inquiry. After that, it will be up to the student to assess and construct the information given in order to form his/her own opinion about the subject matter. True education and learning is ownership of the subject matter which comes through effort and discipline and a little bit of guidance.
