I am a certified Business/Technology teacher. I am currently teaching at Urbana High School. In the past, I have taught 5th-8th grade Spanish, Mathematics and high school level Spanish I, II, III. In terms of Mathematics, I have taught middle school Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II and Geometry at the high school level.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have trained students in a laboratory, restaurant and in the home. I graduated from college with honors and have succeeded in statistics, algebra 2, calculus 1, biology 1, chemistry 1, English literature, professional writing, civics, sketching/painting and classical guitar
It's imperative to listen and understand a students challenges. Reviewing their previous work and giving a current test is a good indicator of the situation. I believe in practice and examples as the clearest path to success. I don't hand deliver answers and I make the process towards answers engaging. I make sure the time and place are conducive to active and non-distractive learning. I relay the importance and relevance of the material. I recap previous lessons and try to integrate them into current assignments. I always value and respect people and expect the same of my students.

My teaching style comes from 15 years of teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and being a Youth Group Leader as well. I have also been a server trainer at my current job at Cracker Barrel for 9 years. I am a very patient person and I treat others with respect. I love to help others learn and I explain things thoroughly which is the way that I tend to learn. I like to come up with demonstrations such as notecards or Powerpoint where the material can be seen and not just heard. Every job I've ever had has been one where I teach. I had a job 3 years teaching ballroom dance, 2 years I coached T-ball, and for 4 years I've tutored math. I just recently graduated and I can't see myself not helping someone learn and love math. Math isn't a subject that everyone loves but I believe that can change with the right teacher. I'm not a tutor that gets frustrated and just tells the answer. I'm also not a person who makes things difficult to understand. With all the different teachers that I've had through my life I have picked up on a lot of their teaching techniques.
