My comments on tutoring Hearing Impaired : basic/elementary level understanding of ASL American sign language

graduated in 2012 form SCSU in special education k-12 with a psychology minor. I worked in day care setting for 2 years and 5 years working with students with multiple disabilities including learning disabilities, deaf and blindness. I have basic understanding of ASL (aerican sign language) I also have experience with utilizing visual supports. I have some experience developing phonic lessons for beginning and struggling readers. After graduating from college with a BA, I began working for an environmental restoration and public education program. We led large volunteer groups sometime of more than 100 people, in local park and forest restoration event, and also led youth groups on 10 day restoration and hiking trips in the national forest. After this I worked for a program that places tutors in schools that are in need, where i tutored K-5 students in reading, led a ESL class of about 10 students, and worked as a teachers assistant in the class room. I have spent the last several years at a monastery where I have had experience mentoring and working with the public in meditation programs.
