I am a native Spanish speaker from Oaxaca, Mexico. I have over 10 years of teaching experience. While living in Mexico, I taught at several language institutes. At these schools, I taught small groups of people as well as individuals, and taught people from all over the world! Since moving to the United States, I have been tutoring both individuals and small groups. I enjoy working with people of all ages!

I am a very adaptable teacher--I can easily pick up on a student's needs and abilities, and work to their strengths in that way. I enjoy not only helping them learn, but also their backstory and considering how it affects their learning style. I also have an innate love of learning, and feel that it's a great gift to help someone realize their own potential.
During my undergrad studies at UWRF, I was sponsored to become a tutor in the Writing Center on campus. There was a prerequisite practicum, but it was very hands-on learning. I worked with students from a variety of backgrounds (ESL, freshman comp, MS candidates, etc). A Little Bit About Me...

I began teaching at a very young age. I began my own music lesson company which taught basic level of piano, guitar, saxophone and voice lessons out of my house before I began high school. After achieving my certificate of proficiency in Spanish from Hamline I then began to also privately tutor Spanish. I also have earned my TEFL/TESOL certificate and will eventually go abroad and teach English overseas.
I have worked mainly with children, but enjoy teaching all ages. I tend to take a systematic approach and keep my lessons structured. I like to have students keep some sort of record of their practice time, as well as their progress. I also am a strong believer in making learning fun, so I try to listen to my students' needs and pay attention to their learning styles so I can create activities that they will not only find educational but fun as well.

A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated from Bethel University in December 2006 with a BA in Elementary Education K-8 with a Middle School specialty in Spanish. I graduated magna cum laude (gpa of 3.8). In college, I completed a research paper written in Spanish about language acquisition in children. I also completed individual courses of both Kindergarten and Middle School education, two classes rarely offered at other universities.
