A Little Bit About Me...

As a student at the University of Chicago, I have tutored at the local Ray Elementary school through the Neighborhood Schools program. There, I tutored two fourth grade ESL students, an Italian boy and a Korean girl, primarily in math and reading. I have also tutored at the STRIVE tutoring center, helping a 7th grader and 8th grader with math and reading. As a mathematics major and a math whiz in high school, I have covered calculus and algebra material many times over and approached them in multiple ways (analysis, IBL, etc). In addition, I have had a lot of experience writing papers and editing peer papers for style and grammar.

More About This Tutor...

I am a very fun and energetic person, therefore, my teaching style reflects my personality. I usually use hands on activities to keep the students engaged and allow them to be responsible for their own learning. I also find that this helps them have a better understanding of the subject area and since many people do not like English class very much, my approach helps them have a new respect for the subject. Of course, I do adapt my teaching style to work with each individual student as I and the student see necessary. I believe that the students and I should have a mutual respect for one another. Therefore, I like for them to have a say in their learning and education.
