Patient. Positive.Encouraging. Keeping it light. My primary aim would be to build the student's self confidence and image. Encouraging enthusiasm for the subject matter,by making it more receptive,would be an additional desired outcome. I would place special emphasize on promoting the need to read,write,and speak well, regardless of the subject. Teaching critical thinking would also be a goal. An instructor can't really teach a student. But the pupil can be given learning support and the tutor can plant the desire to pursue the individual's own education at their own pace, by providing the right guidance.

I have been very successful at adapting my teaching style to fit the age and subject that I am teaching. I am easily able to gain students respect and attention, which has also made me a very useful substitute.
After I received my degree in Elementary Education, I was a substitute teacher in IA for one year. I then worked, taught and advised at a small private college in Iowa. I have also owned and operated a daycare in my home for over three years. Currently have have spent the past two years as a substitute teacher for the Buffalo, MN school district. This is a job I love for the simple fact that I have variety everyday. It is also a great way to stay up to date on all subject matter. As a high school and college student, I was very active in my community as a tutor, mentor, teacher, and coach. I have earned a bachelor degree, BS in Exercise and Sports Science. This degree and other core courses have given me an opportunity to learn and understand many areas including math, science, reading, and history (social studies). As a college graduate, I have worked closely with literacy and classroom teachers with reading and literacy programs. I also have been a program assistant for academic mentoring programs; therefore I understand the importance of individual assistance for each child.

Being overwhelmed with information that is just not making sense can be frustrating and most teachers don't have the time to give individual attention to each student. Ever student has different needs and I can help them focus on areas they doesn't understand as well as others. I can also show students that studying can be fun.
I have teaching and tutoring experience at the high school and college level. I love expanding their minds and sharing my knowledge with them. I will be a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Superior in just a few short weeks with my degree in English and Communications. I will be moving to Champlin just after the first of the year and am looking to continue tutoring.
