My experience began working as a summer camp counselor in different residential camps for those with special needs from 1974 - 1980 inclusive. Since then I have worked as a psychiatric technician with children and adolescents hospitalized in in-patient psychiatric units. After watching a documentary on teachers teaching in the inner city, I decided to switch my major from Pre-Law to Elementary Education. I've always loved learning and I wanted to be able to convey that same message to my students. In college, I majored in Elementary Education with a minor in Psy. of the Exceptional Child. This minor allowed me to study children who are gifted and children with special needs. I am currently working on a Masters in Special Education because I've learned an extensive amount of knowledge on this subject working for the Early Intervention program in my area.
