Sign Language is one of my top subjects! I am a Deaf Studies major at Ohlone College. I have many years of sign language experience, and am capable of assisting students of all levels, from beginners to those at a more competent level.

I believe that Sign Language requires an extremely hands on learning experience. In addition, one should build a strong foundation before moving forward.

Sign Language is one of my top subjects! Entering Year 3 of sign and sign on a regular basis and love it.

I am currently in college, attending Chabot College. I was recently in a 4 year college down in Pomona, CA for a quarter, Cal Poly Pomona, and in a couple of years I will be transferring Cal Poly SLO. I passed my high school years with A's and B's and have also been passing my university/college classes with the same. In high school, I tutored kids for free and a lot of them were in grades above me. Near the end of high school I started teaching younger kids through care.com. I absolutely love tutoring and I think it's amazing to watch a child's mind grow right in front of you.

I grew up with a deaf mother and I speak fluent American Sign Language. I am considered a Child of a Deaf Adult (CODA), but not officially certified by any agency. I graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration Finance and worked the last 15 years as a uncertified, free lance American Sign Language Interpreter. My interpreting skills includes college classes (all subjects), medical appointments and social services visits.
I like to show the concept behind the signs. Understanding the purpose, helps with learning.

Local American Sign Language Tutor

Hello! My name is Emma and I have taken 3 years of American Sign Language. My experience in the classroom involves only having deaf teachers, which I feel was the most helpful to my learning. I am well aware of deaf culture and can provide background knowledge and etiquette. I plan to continue taking ASL courses in the Fall.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have always been eager to learn and help others learn as well. I especially love the sciences, but have always loved and excelled in school. I have previous tutoring experience, and love when new opportunities arise. I recently obtained a BS in Biology from Simpson University.
