Over the last five years, I have tutored students, as well as adults, in Algebra, English and Business.
I enjoy helping people, children and adults. I know that everyone can learn with the proper teaching method. My tutoring technique incorporates various learning styles. I thoroughly enjoy working with children and allowing them to have the opportunity to understand and get excited about learning. I am a very nurturing, patient, and relaxed individual who's teaching style reflects those characteristics. I believe learning and academic success is the ultimate reward for a child that has experienced trouble in school and hopefully I can be the one that helps them achieve that.
Over the past five years I have spent much time pursuing my college degree in Biology. Before my time in the Biology field I spent two years as an education major. In that field I learned how to be a professional educator, work with children with disabilities, and how to give direction to someone in need of help. My time in college has allowed me to experience various fields of Biology and I have been granted several opportunities. I’ve done everything from traveling with local ... read more

Hey there. I am a medical school drop out. I have my bachelors in biology, with minors in botany, chemistry and economics. I wandered through many subjects and interest in school. I have tutored fellow students in my undergrad and in med school. I have a good understanding of algebra, economics, chemistry, physiology and writing papers. I cannot tell you I will be the best tutor on your roster, but I have crossed paths with many students that were ready to throw in the towel and have helped them bring their average to a b level before the semester was out.
I do enjoy helping students with their problems. I have a technique of visualization. for example, which is the first example I use. I tell the student to think of a tree. in the seconds you think of a tree, you don't think of just the tree. you think of the roots, the trunk, the limbs, the branches, the leaves. then you think o ... read more

While planning for a career in medicine, I obtained a BS in biology with a minor in Chemistry. During the application and acceptance process I was an adjunct faculty member at a local technical college. My courses taught were remedial Algebra, biology, and anatomy and physiology. During the hours between classes I was a paid Tutor in the college's learning assistance center.
I wouldn't have a "professional" description for teaching style as my education was solidly based in the sciences. However, I believe that by teaching intuitive thought processes and critical thinking skills, students can easily adapt to the tasks given be they in science or liberal arts.

Upon receiving my BA, I began a 26-year journey in high school and college education. My primary teaching duties were in biology, chemistry, and earth sciences. I was appointed department chair for three schools and served as district coordinator for sciences at one of those schools. I have worked to develop science curriculum programs for Chemistry, Environmental Studies, and Marine Sciences in South Carolina. I have instructed Human Anatomy and Physiology for two community colleges in South Carolina and for four regional colleges in Savannah and Brunswick, Georgia. My degree of success is the accomplishments of my students at all levels.
I use a combined demonstration and discussion style for lecture and introduction of topics to be studied. Labs are a demonstration followed by a monitored hands-on work experience. I integrate reading and computational skills into my sub ... read more

As a Mathematical Sciences major, I was encouraged to development a strong foundation in applied mathematics. In addition, I also minored in Biology, as a science related minor was required for my program. I have learned many writing skills due to many research papers, lab projects, and mathematical proofs. My experience at Armstrong Atlantic State University certainly has prepared me to help students in need of a tutor.
During college I noticed that every student absorbs information differently. I believe that in order to teach effectively, a tutor must not only understand which way a student learns best, but also provide an appropriate environment in which the student feels comfortable. I enjoy working with children of all ages and it is my goal to ensure that each child receives the best education possible. I believe a child's education is the most important factor in determinin ... read more
