I have a good report with teenagers, and I find that that is what allows me to reach out to students and help them succeed. As a teacher and tutor, I try to explain concepts in several different ways so that my students can find the best way to remember or understand what they are studying. By getting to know a particular student, I also get to know their learning style. I love teaching children and being able to see them learn. It is awesome to see and hear when they finally "get it" or when they understand something that I taught them. Moreover, when a student gives you an answer to a question and uses an example of something that you taught them earlier, it really shows you how quickly they can pick things up. My teaching "style" is very open--I will have an outline and while I am presenting I will sometimes ask for examples from the students to help get us through the outline together. You can't speak AT them; you have to involve the students in what you are teaching them.
