My comments on tutoring Poetry : I have a MA in English and I have taught college level composition (English 101 and 102). I currently teach high school Advanced English.

I guide the student to his or her understanding of the material. I do not feed information. I ask that the student come to their own conclusions.
I have a BA in English and Creative Writing. I received a MA in English Literature in 2005. I began my teaching career at Calhoun teaching English Composition 101 and 102. I have since been teaching high school (for 8 years) and currently am teaching honors 10 and AP Senior Lit. and Comp. at a local high school. English is my life! ha! My comments on tutoring Poetry : I have taught poetry in all my literature classes.

I prefer the Socratic method of asking/answering questions and discussion, but I am more than capable of diverting to a more lecture style of teaching if that is what works with the student. I tailor my teaching style to the strengths of the student.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have most of my experience working with English language learners. Over the past year I have worked with English language learners that came from varied backgrounds such as, university aged Korean students, adult Russian speakers, adult Ukrainian speakers, and adult, middle, and elementary aged Spanish speakers. I really enjoy speaking other languages, which is why I majored in Linguistics and French. I received my TESOL certification in Querétaro Mexico this summer where I also studied Spanish and became rather proficient.
