I began to realize my love and aptitude for tutoring as a volunteer Japanese instructor for the Daikin home-stay program in 2006. The next two years I volunteered my time with Rosie's International Services tutoring Spanish. At the beginning of the Spring 2008 semester, the Head of the Foreign Language Department, Dr. Maier, submitted my name to a tutoring department at UAH, where I worked tutoring Spanish, Japanese, Latin, Chinese, and English as a Second Language until I graduated in Spring 2010. Although I do not have an education degree nor teaching certificate, I was hired as a part-time Spanish teacher at Austin High School 2010-2011, where I started an informal Japanese Culture Club.

A Little Bit About Me...

My experience ranges a great deal and encompasses a lot of subject matter from K-12 Math to English and Literature. My wide range of expertise is indicative of my schooling where I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications that exposed me to the Liberal Arts world; while my minor in Industrial and Systems Engineering and Master of Science degree in Information Technology exposed me to more technical subject matter (i.e. various levels of Math). I also obtained an MBA from UAB though my greatest business experience was actually working as a banker for fifteen years. I have a passion for helping youth through my church and have four daughters of my own.
